Description
The González Vázquez family has a long history. It all started when, at the end of the 19th century, their ancestors began to make wine in the area. The current family is the fourth generation and it is not until the end of the 80s that they decide to buy the farm. The house is from the s. XVIII and, once restored, it has been used for wine tourism, in addition to housing the winery’s own facilities, knowing how to combine traditional elements, such as stone and wood, with the most cutting-edge technology for making its wines. Bodegas Casal de Armán was founded in 1989 with the aim of producing wines with the autochthonous varieties of Ribeiro D. O. It currently has about 20 hectares of vineyards located in O Cotiño, in the municipality of Ribadavia, Ourense; planted in espalier, with not very fertile soils based on granite, sand and some clay, at an altitude of 350m above sea level. The varieties that work for the production of all Casal de Armán wines are Treixadura, Godello, Albariño, Loureira for white and Brancellao, Caiño and Sousón for red. The white wine from the Casal de Arman Winery could be considered one of the best Galician wines of the moment. They are wines of a light straw colour, bright, with greenish reflections. With fresh aromas, in the mouth they are unctuous and frank, with a very well integrated acidity. They are complex, very expressive and persistent wines. Armán Finca Misenhora is an impressive aged on lees white wine made with the Treixadura, Godello and Albariño grape varieties by Casal de Armán Wineries under the protection of the regulatory board of the Ribeiro Designation of Origin. The grapes with which this wine is made it comes from the highest part of the Misenhora Estate, grown on terraces in an elevated area of Beade, one of the quality vertices of the Avia Valley. Bodegas Casal de Armán applies the highest levels of monitoring and control in all its production processes to all its elaborations, with the sole purpose of achieving a high quality product, as is reflected in Armán Finca Misenhora, which stands out especially for being a wine unctuous and very well structured, with aromas of peach, white flowers and mineral nuances.
