Located in Galicia, in the heart of Valdeorras, Adega A Coroa has been erected since the 18th century in a magical place, a crown-shaped promontory that gives it its name, on the ruins of an old Romanized fort and surrounded by vineyards where they still appear vestiges of its history. Considered one of the oldest wineries in Galicia, A Coroa’s first project was born around 1750 from the love of an overseas general for a beautiful native, her land and her wines. It was this love for Valdeorras, its people and its history transmitted through wine, which achieved that the name of A Coroa was already praised in the Madrid of its time. In 2002, from the union of Roberto Fernández García with the fourth generation of the López Vicente family of winegrowers, the new A Coroa was born and founded, a tribute to their ancestors, to their effort and commitment. With the firm desire to make only the highest quality wines, the original building is restored with care, using only indigenous materials and integrated with the environment: stone, clay, wood and slate. The set is also equipped with the most modern winemaking technology to safeguard the maximum expression and naturalness of the grape, and vineyards are recovered and acquired in the best growing areas of Valdeorras. Today, based on a rational and modern viticulture that takes advantage of the personality of the Godello variety, they work convinced that the wine is obtained mainly in the vineyard. In A Coroa they base their work on 4 fundamental pillars, seeking a clear differentiation and a firm commitment to the highest quality: Heterogeneity of vineyards, Integrated Production, Controlled Production, and Implementation of the most modern and current production systems. That is why A Coroa wines are present at the best tables in about 20 countries on 4 continents and are endorsed by more than 100 international awards and mentions. Encompassed in the Valdeorras Designation of Origin, in A Coroa they make three monovarietal white wines from Godello and a very special red wine from Garnacha Tintorera grapes from centenary vines. The production philosophy is based on the search for the highest quality and naturalness of the Godello grape; in A Coroa they have the most modern winemaking equipment: manual selection table, pneumatic press, tanks equipped with automatic refrigeration, peristaltic pump and microfiltration equipment.
