Bodegas La Tapada , better known by Guitián, name of the owner family, is a leading firm in the resurgence of the Godello grape in Valdeorras, a region that, emulating the example of Rías Baixas, has become another focus of interest for white wines from Galicia. The secret is undoubtedly in those 9 hectares of vineyards of more than 30 years that surround the winery. A splendid vineyard planted exclusively with Godello grapes that it has been demonstrating for years the enormous possibilities of this variety of grape, now limited to the Valdeorras region of Orense and which was on the verge of disappearing. Fortunately, there were some winegrowers, very few, who like the Guitián brothers, bet on it and did not get carried away by how easy it would have been to resort to one of the most famous or most fashionable grape varieties. The harvest of the Guitián Godello grapes is done manually. Grain selection processes are carried out both in the vineyard and later in the winery. After traditional vinification, Guitián Godello undergoes a fermentation for about two months in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, then it is bottled and rests for another two months before being sold. Guitian Godello is a very tasty, fresh, complex, intense white wine, with a great variety of flavours and aromas, that you cannot stop trying.
