Description

Since 2015, El Paraguas Wineries has been making its wines in a new wine-making building in the municipality of Cenlle, within the Avia Valley (Ourense). Previously, the company led by Marcial Pita and Felicísimo Pereira made wines in the garage of the Pereira family winery, in the heart of Ribadavia’s old town. With the move of fief, the Galician firm took advantage of this circumstance to change the image of its wines, adapting them to the needs of the market. The functional winery is perfectly equipped for the production of wines and set up with the latest technologies at the service of Felicísimo Pereira’s magic wand, technical director of El Paraguas Wineries. Despite being a winemaking house with a very limited circulation of wines, El Paraguas Wineries practically has a tailored container for the vinification of each grape variety from each plot it oversees. Treixadura, Albariño and Godello receive a different and independent treatment, depending on the origin of the grape and, above all, on the nature of each harvest. This winery, located around 400 meters above sea level, is surrounded by almost two hectares of a young vineyard that El Paraguas Wineries has been working for the future. Inside, in addition to a humble reception room for visitors; the winery has stainless steel tanks and 600 and 500 liters French oak barrels with temperature control. In addition, El Paraguas Wineries bets on low interventionist vinifications, so that the wines reflect the terroir of origin. Lastly, El Paraguas Wineries dedicates a special space to “cooking” the wax mixed with paraffin that their bottles wear. An absolutely artisanal process, more expensive, but one that ensures greater cleaning in transport and subsequent preservation of the wines El Paraguas Atlántico, La Sombrilla and Fai un Sol de Carallo.
