Description

The Gil Armada Winery was founded in 1959 by Joaquín Gil Armada, it is heir to one of the oldest vineyards in Salnés that gave rise to the first Albariño wine bottled at the beginning of the 20th century. Since then, at the Gil Armada Winery they have focused all their efforts on conserving and studying the vineyards that are protected in the Pazo de Fefiñáns, to apply the results obtained to the new plantations. In the heart of the Salnés valley, Rias Baixas, are its two Albariño vineyards with well-differentiated characteristics. Within the walled enclosure, the historic Fefiñáns vineyard, whose age dates back to the beginning of the construction of the pazo at the end of the 16th century and San Fardán four kilometres away, where there was already an old Albariño vineyard and other indigenous red varieties. now in recovery. In the artisanal distillery there are the copper stills where they make their magnificent liquors and spirits, taking as a reference the traditional methods of production of Galicia. Since 1990 they have used the distillation system of pomace resulting from vinification to produce their spirits and liqueurs. Visiting the Pazo de Fefiñáns is to explore the splendid interiors of the pazo, stroll through its vineyards, traveling through time from the origins of the monumental architecture declared a Site of Cultural Interest, to the palate of the Albariño in continuous creation.
