Adega da Pinguela is the project of two cousins ​​united by their passion for Valdeorras and wine in equal measure. Francisco Núñez and Gonzalo Sánchez shared games in childhood and also many vintages in A Rúa Vella. Growing up among vineyards and enjoying not only the wine, but also everything it represents on a social and cultural level for the region, pushed them at the beginning of the 21st century to found their own winery. The first step was to find the place, a traditional space that they could restore to create a professional project. The search lasted more than a year and when they were about to throw in the towel, they found A Pinguela, in the village of Carballal. There they found the winery they had imagined, a century-old building with many possibilities and a privileged environment. A Pinguela is a group of wineries with a cave from where you can see the entire Petín valley and A Rúa de Valdeorras, with the San Martiño reservoir in the center and surrounding vineyards. It is located at mid-altitude, about five hundred meters above sea level, and on the southern slope of the valley, offering magnificent sunsets that melt over the course of the river. Adega da Pinguela has been evolving since its creation in 2007, betting on differentiating itself and reinvesting to have its own vineyard in which to carry out sustainable, responsible viticulture and with biodynamic criteria. Most of its vineyards are located in Petín and A Rúa, on sunny slopes and with a peculiar minerality. If it is on the earth, it will be in the wine. Francisco and Gonzalo created Adega da Pinguela because they wanted to cultivate roots, respecting tradition but with an open eye. And in it they continue. They currently have four wines on the market: Memoria de Ventura Godello, Memoria de Ventura Garnacha, Trebón and Dez. A white and three reds that add up to just over fifteen thousand bottles, all of them with an indisputable stamp that of authenticity.Memoria de Ventura Garnacha is an exquisite aged red wine made by Adega da Pinguela with 100% Garnacha Tintorera grapes under the protection of the regulatory board of Valdeorras Designation of Origin. It is a village wine, because all the grapes come from old Garnacha Tintorera vines located in A Rúa de Valdeorras. They are slate soils that require laborious viticulture and which are managed without using any herbicides. During its elaboration, the wine has a passage through oak wood, but without losing its fruity character and intense minerality. It is, without a doubt, a wine that does not leave you indifferent. Annual production of approximately 1100 bottles.
