Description
Anselmo Mendes is recognized not only for the excellence of the wines he produces, but also for the surprising and consistent way in which he innovates. Combining the use of ancestral techniques, such as tanning, with bold winemaking methods, such as the fermentation of Albariño in oak barrels, it asserts itself in Portugal and abroad with an original project and its own identity. Anselmo Mendes wines are the result of a long and faithful relationship with the land, of an experimental and studious spirit and of a philosophy of respect for the ecosystem, materialized in forms of integrated production. It was in 1998 when Anselmo Mendes entered the wine scene, rediscovering and taking advantage of the lesser-known characteristics of a grape such as the Albariño, impregnating his wines with a complexity and personality that today gives him his well-earned fame as an author. . To the character and philosophy that he imprints on the elaborations that he makes with his fetish grape, he is joined by the curiosity to make wines in other Portuguese denominations of origin, resulting in Douro, Dao or Alentejo wines, with the unmistakable seal of quality and the know-how of Anselmo. As defined by one of the columnists on Robert Parker’s website, Anselmo Mendes wines are “intellectually interesting and tasty”. Currently, Anselmo Mendes is present in the market with more than thirty references. Its wines awarded and distinguished nationally and internationally, have already reached 40 countries.
