To know the origin of Grupo Bodegas Villanueva it is necessary to go back to the 1960s, when a young man from Castrelo de Miño decided to undertake a winemaking tradition that continues to this day. This young man is Obdulio Villanueva Blanco who, based on the good reviews he received about his wine, decided, in September 1961, to start marketing it to his neighbors and friends. In recent years, legislative changes and consumer trends have led the company to initiate an important process of change, both structural and functional, which has been and continues to be managed by the third generation. Bodegas Villanueva Senra, although it does not have its own production, reflects, in each of its wines, a long family history dedicated to the land, the vine and the grape. The quality and exquisiteness of its wines are the result of concentrating that tradition and experience in each bottle. The vineyards where the grapes for Bodegas Villanueva Senra come from are located in Castrelo de Miño and its surroundings, in the Ribeiro region. It is a fertile site, with abundant rivers. The main one of them all is the Miño, architect of the geological modeling of abundant boulders that give its vineyards special characteristics.
