Ruxe Ruxe is a magnificent red wine made by Coca i Fitó Winery – Tolo de Xisto with 100% Mencia grapes under the protection of the regulatory board of Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin. Ruxe Ruxe is the expression used in Galician language to indicate the noises that the stomach makes due to the sensation of hunger; it would be the purr of the stomach. In the illustration by Jaume Coca, this sensation is described through a character with butterflies coming out of the belly. The tasty aromas that the wine gives off wake up the stomach asking to be satiated by this wine.
Appearance: Cherry colour with violet rim.
Bouquet: Aromas of currant, blue flowers, spices, ripe fruit and red fruit, freshness, aromas of the sea.
Palate: Fresh, ripe red and black fruit, acidic fruit such as blueberries and picota, floral, tasty, herbaceous notes, aromatic herbs, sweet spices, good acidity, candied fruit, powerful, sea flavour, fruit expression, ripe tannins.
In the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin, in 2013 Tolo de Xisto was created, a project formed by the oenologist Andrea Obenza and the brothers Toni and Miquel Coca i Fitó. The Tolo do Xisto winery is located in Monforte de Lemos. With his name, “crazy about the slate”, the promoters of the project wanted to define the great effort and love for the land necessary to make wines in this area, a spectacular landscape of the gorges of the river Sil, where vineyards are grown on slate floors. To achieve the uniqueness of each one of the wines in the different production areas, a great diversity of factors intervene: The most important thing is the quality of the grape, most of it coming from old, low-production vines grown organically. The native grape varieties together with other varieties well adapted to the environment. The weather of each of the vineyards. The typicality of the soils with a great mineral diversity of clays, pebbles, calcareous soils, slates. The aging of the wine in tanks and cement eggs and with micro-oxygenation eggs, amphoras, foudres, oak barrels and others. With all this they achieve infinite nuances that make them go further, allow them to travel, make them dream, make them enjoy the experience. The images that dress the bottles of Coca i Fitó wines are the work of the illustrators Oriol Malet and Jaume Coca. In each and every one of the designs we have sought to convey the essence of the wine and describe the sensations that it will bring, whether due to its freshness, structure, joy or sensory experience.
