Description
The Scintilla project goes beyond making wines with their own identity. It is revealed as a space where culture, training and dissemination have their home and proof of this is the agreement with the USC to offer students of the master’s degree in viticulture a space where they can put into practice the knowledge they have acquired. Regarding culture, Finca Scintilla usually hosts various musical events and artistic exhibitions. And thinking about dissemination, in wine tourism activities the visitor is no longer a mere spectator to fully immerse himself in the winemaking tradition of the area. Finca Scintilla is a spark of illusion that ignites in everyone who is attracted to the authenticity of the area and the culture of wine. The first building within the Finca Scintilla space was built in 1998. José Antonio Rodríguez decides that the winery that will maintain family traditions in winemaking will also maintain the architectural identity of the area, and for this purpose materials are used in the construction traditional such as stone and wood and the building is integrated into the landscape taking advantage of the terrain. The structure follows the line of traditional cellars in Sanfiz and numerous details such as the shape of the doors or locks make a nod to the old family cellar. We can find an experimental winery in which they make 15 different elaborations per year, with a differentiation of the wines by parcels, varieties, time of maturation and types of wine. At the end, 7 wine references are released per year depending on the vintage and the optimum moment of consumption. The grape with which they make their wines comes from their own vineyards in the Parroquia de Sanfiz in Chantada (Lugo, Ribeira Sacra) and also from the Monte do Cristo experimental estate in Portomarín belonging to the USC. The total vineyard area they cultivate is 1.5 hectares, divided into 10 plots, each with its own peculiarity, which makes them carry out different vinifications. But in addition to the vineyard, this project has the mountain as an important part of the project. At first glance due to its scenic beauty, although it is also of special importance in regulating temperature, it serves as a contribution of organic matter to the vineyard, is a refuge for beneficial fauna and preserves biodiversity. Scintilla Da Man do Trasno is an exclusive and different red wine with aging made by Finca Scintilla Winery with a masterful blend of Pinot Noir, Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Areuxa and Grao Negro grape varieties. Scintilla Da Man do Trasno possesses the elegance of Scintilla Pinot Noir, the wisdom of the ancient vines of A Teldereta and the overwhelming personality of Electam. A wine with a very limited production, only 500 bottles are made per year, since at Finca Scintilla quality prevails over quantity.
