Description
Val de Quiroga Winery is a family business that has been dedicated to winemaking for four generations. From the vineyards of the region, located on the slopes that descend towards the Sil and Quiroga rivers, they collect the grapes and make Albariño, Treixadura, Godello white wines and Mencía red or rosé wines, marketed today under the protection of the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin. The founder of the company, Manuel Gómez Montero, in 1949, opened a tavern in San Clodio to sell his wine and from there he decided to open the winery. The current Val de Quiroga Winery was established in 1986, when the founder’s sons took over the management of a company with long years of experience, located first in San Clodio and then in Quiroga. Viña de Neira Mencia is a red wine made by the Val de Quiroga Winery with grapes of the Mencia variety under the protection of the regulatory board of the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin. This is a very fruity, intense young red wine with character and sweetness from the vineyards that the Val de Quiroga Winery has located on the slopes that descend towards the Sil and Quiroga valleys. This is a winery with an enormous winemaking tradition, and this is already the fourth generation within the family dedicated to the production of wines, currently they have a winery equipped with the latest technologies and in their vineyards we can find a great diversity of grape varieties such as Brancellao, Loureira, Torrontés, Godello, Albariño and of course Mencía.
